First of all, welcome to the forum! Smile

As many portals state, his last name is Morgan, though it wasn't really revealed in anime... (but I like it personally:)) About his Japanese last name it's possible that it would be Sasaki, since he is named after Kojiro Sasaki, XVIth century samurai. Many people consider that Miyamoto isn't Musashi's mom first name, but her last name, so if she is called Musashi Miyamoto, then Kojiro Sasaki makes sense.

Of course everything is based on speculations Smile

I heard that last name was official in one dub. xD

Personally, I think some characters don't even have last names. Surnames are kinda new in Japan too, so I guess that's why Satoshi doesn't say '---- Satoshi desu' but instead says 'Masara Town no Satoshi.' And the towns are so small and close-knit names don't seem to overlap.
But if they did, they'd probably be Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. xD

I'm agree with Musashi, some characters don’t have last names, the most possible last name to James in Japanese would be Sasaki (in honor of a great samurai) and for the rest of the world would be Morgan.
To Jess would be Miyamoto in Japanese and for the rest of the world … maybe Austin (I’m not sure ok, I read this in a site). Talking about Jess’s last name, I remembered that in the Pokémon Chronicle “Training Daze” Viper called Jessie “-Jessie Yurimaki”, I’m not sure if this could be her official last name but I’m sure he said it, You didn’t hear it? (maybe I’m just crazy ^^’).

Yeah, but what does that have to do with Masara Town? The Kanto in the show is not the Kanto of Japan! I said for his town! His town's pretty tiny, moreso in the games than the anime- it'd be difficult for the names to overlap. And in other towns? Well, he always says Masara Town no Satoshi- so if there's another Satoshi, he'd go by his town/city/shoebox.

Nn, he never called her by any name, only refered to her as Musashi and the top of the Red Group. It could be a mixup where people thought a word was a name again, like when Rose-san said her name was Rose, but a little before said itsumo, and people assumed it to be her name, despite Kojiro constantly calling her 'Rose-san' a million times in the special. xD;

Got the translation for that episode too and nope, no last name. Plus, if she had one, it would be said BEFORE her first name.

Ookido-hakase is not Yukinari Ookido, he is Ookido Yukinari.
Same with Shigeru. Ookido Shigeru, not Shigeru Ookido.

Right, his town is very small. My school is also small and my name is rather rare. So when someone's looking for Sara, then everyone knows that is looking for me. This is only example. Satoshi knows that he is famous, so he possibly believes that saying "Masara Town no Satoshi desu" is enough.This is how they call him in TV also.
Personally, I think it's still Japan. Only alternative. With no animals (well, there are some exceptions), but with pokemon. Just because they don't call the country or prefectures literally doesn't always mean that it's something totally different. You can see it from culture, mentality of people, how they behave in various situations, how do they pass time or what they eat. Many novelists and screenwriters do the same thing. The fist example I can think of, is the movie "Terminal" about a guy from fictional country called Cracosia, stuck in airport's terminal for years. This country really was Poland, though he even didn't use Polish but rather mix of slovian languages, but political revolution that happened in this country resembled Polish situation over 20 years ago. And moreover, the name Cracosia comes from Cracow, famous Polish city. So it was Poland, only alternative.
Just my weird thoughts, so don't feel somehow bothered Smile

That was really funny story with her name. She has western name in original and people didn't draw attention to it, calling her "always" instead xD;

Same with my name! ^^ Live in a small place considered a village and I have a pretty different name from the others here.

It is quite amusing. xD Heck, some people were checking their dictionaries and finding nothing but 'bara' for Rose and wondering how Itsumo meant Rose. xDDDD; Heh, it's pretty obvious the Pokemon islands are based on Japan- heck, Kanto's based on Kanto and even has its name! And in the book written by one of the writers (I think it was one of those This Is Animation books, maybe?) Kanto WAS the Japanese Kanto and the capital was Tokyo. Bizzare. xD Jouto looks like Chubu west of Kanto, Houen's based on Kyushu, and Shinnoh/Sinnou on Hokkaido.

-ahem-
That's funny, 'cause my friend who we call Jai is a LOT like James and his real name is close to that. He hates his name, though. xD;

And Orange Isles as Riukiu Isles? xD
I remember there was a Tokyo Tower in one of BF episodes, or at least something similar to it Smile
Do you mean the writer's book which has been rumoured to contain informations abou characters' sexuality? xD I've read about it somewhere xDDDD
